Job Description
Position Summary
The Event and Fundraising Specialist is responsible for the strategy and implementation of all local fundraising efforts with a special emphasis on event planning and execution. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing both partner development and special events across Canada.
As the Event and Fundraising specialist, you are a valued team member with a positive attitude, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. You will have demonstrated event management skills such as diplomacy, creative thinking, vigilance, and the ability to quickly resolve problems with common sense and available resources. You will also possess the ability to engage with a range of existing supporters and continue excellent stewardship. Developing new supporter relationships with individuals, corporations and local groups will also be necessary to achieve success within this role. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, results-oriented, self-starter who has a passion for fundraising and interest in developing their skills and knowledge in revenue development.
Duties and Responsibilities
Execute, manage, and evaluate event timelines, critical paths, production, and processes to ensure event success.
Develop and build strong relationships with sponsors, donors, vendors, and volunteers.
Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward sponsors, donors, vendors and volunteers.
Secure sponsorship opportunities with local businesses including the ability to make “cold calls”.
Negotiate and compare costs and services with vendors and suppliers to meet event requirements.
Monitor and track event revenue and expenses to ensure alignment with approved event budgets. On-site event management including, but not limited to move-in/out, staging, staff and volunteer coordination, auction and display set-up/tear down etc.
Pre-and post preparation for event committee meetings including taking meeting minutes and committee follow-ups.
Develop and coordinate written event materials, such as, but not limited to: sponsorship packages and proposals, auction descriptions, invitations and letters, stewardship packages, event reports, thank you letters, etc.

You have excellent organizational and project management skills with strong attention to detail. You possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
You exercise a high level of integrity and discretion when interacting with donors, sponsors, and stakeholders.
You are passionate about both impact and innovation and love finding creative ways to bring these two passions together
You have 3 – 5 years’ experience in fundraising.
You possess excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook.
You have the ability to work flexible hours, to be available for on-site event management evenings and weekends on a regular basis and some travel is required.
